Volunteer work - St Ives Cornwall
Volunteering at the Community Orchard is a great way to get outdoors, get fit, enjoy the natural world in a beautiful and tranquil location, meet new people and make a difference in your community. No experience is needed and you can work at your own pace. All skills and general help are much appreciated. New volunteers are always welcome.

Earn Time Credits: You can also earn Time credits every time that you work at the orchard which you can use at various places around the country. The work we do includes - planting trees and bushes, clearing brambles & bracken, protecting and nurturing our trees, clearing paths in the nature reserve, planting wildflowers, looking after our apiary (bee garden) and helping organise and run community events. We work on various other projects with volunteers, like building our cob oven, building a shed, making pallet furniture and have lots of other plans for more projects. We are very easy going, no commitment is expected, even just offering one hour once a month would be wonderful.
We provide the tools, gloves and biscuits /fruit and show you what's needed doing. We plan to plant gardens around each tree - see more info about this and we also look after our apiary.
Families with children are welcome. The orchard is right next to a playpark and skatepark so when the kids have had enough in the orchard, there is plenty for them to do.
See more reasons to volunteer in this interesting article which explains why volunteering is as important as paid jobs.
