The sun shone down beautifully for the Spring Equinox Seed Swap on Sunday 17th March, where people enjoyed swapping seeds, live music, warm fire, a foraging walk and other seedy activities along with a big choice of delicious cake baked by volunteers.
Jo Riley who runs Seeds of St Ives brought along an impressive array of seeds, vegetables, herbs and flowers for swapping or to take in exchange for a donation.
Leading a large group around the orchard, Josh Quick of Wild St Ives gave a captivating foraging walk, revealing the diverse uses and edible nature of many of the different types of trees and plants found there
Wild grass seeds and clay were provided to make seed balls and clay creatures to be distributed in places to increase diversity. Sunflower seeds were planted and taken home to be grown and kids enjoyed the freedom of the orchard, playing with the hulahoops and the hammock in the trees.
Global Jamming played some beautiful melodies for all to enjoy while the fire was lit to warm up the early evening.
