Here is a list of some of the species and fruit trees found at St Ives Community Orchard which includes over 100 different types of fruit and nut trees, with at least 50 different varieties of Apple trees, mostly Cornish and Heritage varieties.
Those visiting us are welcome to taste the fruits in season but be mindful that you are sharing with 100's of other people so don't pick too many. We have Apple day in September where we juice and drink them on the day and make cider to enjoy the rest of the year!! Apples are mostly ready to pick in September and there is often windfall on the ground so we encourage people to pick up the windfall rather than picking from the trees. See tree id info.
The Nature Reserve is a valuable wildlife oasis, rich in biodiversity, with a range of habitats supporting a host of different species and we have planted over 2000 native woodland trees on the lower areas of Penbeagle Hill.
