Symbiosis Soil Lab report.
Jake Corin from Symbiosis Soil Lab has taken soil microbiology samples from 3 of our sites, inspected our compost bins and prepared a detailed report with recommendations for improvement. It was exciting to meet some of the tiniest residents of our Orchard: the busy little microbes making life all go round! He said our compost was one of the richest ones he’d inspected.
Wildlife camera
This has been installed in the Nature Reserve and we’ve so enjoyed seeing all the videos that have been taken of a Roe deer and a fox. Here’s some screenshots taken from the video.
Bioacoustic survey
We received a bio-acousitic monitor from //carbonrewild.com which records birds and mammals that visit our site through sound. It was installed for a month, see results below
Extract from report: This report presents the findings of our recent bioacoustic survey conducted to assess the biodiversity within the designated survey area. Bioacoustic monitoring involves analysing the sounds produced by different species, serving as reliable indicators of their presence, behaviour, and activity trends. The aim of the survey is to identify bird species and highlight those of conservation importance. The survey took place between 27 February – 26 March 2025, recording at the same time intervals every day during the survey period.
Brix refractometer
This amazing contraption tests the quality of food to indicate its nutrient density. More info on //grffn.org/

Wildflower seeds, wildlife pond and a hedgehog house
We also received funding for wildflower seeds which have been spread in many places as well, a hedgehog house that has been put into our Carnellis garden and funding to create a wildlife pond which is work in progress. More photos to follow.
