Wassail 2024

On Saturday 27th Jan, St Ives Orchard Wassail marked its 10th anniversary to celebrate and bless the trees, to awaken them from their winter slumber and help produce a good harvest for the coming year.
After singing the Wassail song, people were encouraged by the Green Man to hang toast soaked in cider on the branches of a tree, before making as much noise as possible and dancing with no less than five osses around the orchard.

The Raffidy Dumitz Band Fan Page brought their wonderful music and this year we had 5 ‘Osses join us, what a treat. Pen Hood & Kasek Nos, Morvagh the Dark Sea Oss & Penkvyll the Land’s End Oss and their teasers who dance with them. And a new one from St Ives by Mattie Pochee – Kasek Byghan (little mare).

We also had some great drumming energy from Global Jamming.

Thank you to the organisers, our orchard dancers, our Green Man, the volunteers who kept the drinks & food flowing and to those who donated cakes for our food stall.
