A fantastic free community event put on in St Ives Skatepark 3rd Aug 2019 with hundreds of local residents of all ages dancing to two incredible acts and supporting our youth in a skate competition. The first event held in St Ives Skatepark ever!!
The skate contest was so brilliant with loads of local skaters participating, showing some serious talent and winning great prizes. Compered really well by Zain Ishmael from Mount Hawk. The party at night was epic. So exciting to listen to Lowkey, one of the greatest British rappers of all time, in our skatepark! He was amazing and Krafty Kuts was so good too, had everyone dancing. See more photos on facebook
It was a completely free event put on by Lee Skeet & Friends/ Bones Ent and he donated £5000 from this event and his event with Natty in the orchard into the Skatepark Project (even though it cost him much more than this to put on the event)

Below are the credits written by Lee Skeet to everyone who helped him with the event:
Big thank you –
- Lowkey– one of the greatest UK rappers of all time agreed to come and play on Penbeagle estate in St Ives!
- Krafty Kuts– one of the world’s best DJs- agreed to play also, and in support of the park and because he’s one of life’s good guys, he offered to do it half price!
- Emily Weaver designed incredible artwork to promote the event
- St Ives Times & Echo helped us out with discounted printing
- LWC Cornwall and Sharp’s Brewery donated a huge amount of stock for the bar
- Pedn-Olva Hotel and Tregenna CastleCastle helped us with rooms for the artists.
- Audiosource helped us out massively with sound, staging and lighting
- Our lovely professional filmmaker friend Senara Onthebeach came and filmed the entire event
- Our lovely friends at Prestige signs & print kindly made and donated our festival banner
- The incredible Sam Williams, Tony Brown and Rob Morrow came and played for free
- Our friends, Sloth and Sparrow Catering, Candice Sharaka Cole, Jack Frosts came and staffed the bar and ran food stalls for free.
- And Délices du Monde donated sushi for our staff and artists
- Our friend Aaron came and put up a free bouncy castle for all the kids
- JBS security kept everyone safe and well
- Pat Stewart ran to the arcade for change and was generally being fabulous.
- Dan Bassett and A1 Cars St Ives Taxi Service 01736797700 provided transport for all the artists.
- The fantastic Jabula Stretch Tents gave us festival flags and bunting for free
- And- for me- the most poignant thing was that my Devon crew Michael Thomas James Creek Tina Wells Neil Clifton came down to show their support and spent the entire weekend putting up fences, tidying up, running to get more rum, enjoying the music, causing trouble and generally being very helpful legends as always. Love you all.
For the Skate event thanks goes to:
- The legend Zain Ishmael organised everything for us for, Sessions Surf & Skate shop Penzance, Off The Beaten Track, Roots PNZ Skate Shop, Nathan Thomas, Down the Line Surf Company, Polmanter Touring Park, Shiner Distribution donated hundreds of pounds worth of giveaways and we had an attendance of hundreds of supporters watching our local skaters shred.
Congratulations to Leila and Tully Stevens on winning their respective age groups 👊
Lee Skeet wrote: KERNOACHELLA was probably the highlight of my life and I couldn’t be more proud of all of our friends who made it happen. Because of it being free, we could never have made money as it cost us around £10k to put on. But we did it to say thank you. We personally covered the costs for everything to make it a free festival and we took over £3k in donations on the day which will be donated straight to the park, so thank you to everyone. Obviously it would have been easier to transfer £10k to the skatepark, but this was not about money and more about making a statement. We love St Ives and want to improve it and bridge the gap between our residents. Next time you go to the skatepark and maybe feel intimidated, do what me and my 5 year old son do and walk up to those people and talk to them, they are a credit to your town.
All the credit for KERNOACHELLA goes to St Ives Council, Amy Quayle, Zain Ishmael, Senara, Emily Weaver, the Devon crew, jabula and all our friends who helped and who have fought and fought for these kids.
But the biggest thank you goes to all of you for your support. The town really showed how much they care, thank you.
“Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.” (It took us two, but we did it anyway)
See you at KERNOACHELLA next year you fantastic people
